Pursuant to TAPPS ByLaws and Constitution,
Membership shall be limited to supervisory or managerial personnel of any private sector entity:
(a) that employs security guards or private investigators licensed in the Province of Ontario;
(b) that employs investigators in the Province of Ontario but has been exempted from licensing by the Ministry of Community Safety and Corrections or such other provincial Ministry or agency with applicable jurisdiction; or
(c) that employs special constables (save and except for a police service entity).
For clarity, regular front line security personnel are not eligible for membership.
Individuals proposed for membership must directly supervise or manage licensed security personnel or special constables on a full-time basis. Part-time personnel and persons who are under contract to a member organization may be included by the organization only after approval of the Board of Directors.
Note that the membership to the TAPPS organization is not mutually exclusive to the TPS TAPPS portal, however to have access to TPS-TAPPS information sharing portal, one must be a member of TAPPS.
