Education and Training
There are several training opportunities per year covering a broad range of topics such as private security legislation in Ontario, CCTV and Video related issues, school violence, active attacker situations, crime prevention through environmental design, and emergency management and preparedness in our urban environment, as well as sector specific training.
Sessions are held at privately owned venus as well as state of the art Toronto Police Service facilities. The format of these seminars consist of welcoming remarks from TAPPS executives, a discussion focused on crime analysis followed by two presentations on topics identified through a survey conducted at the end of the previous year. Presently much of the training is supported by police officers who have expertise associated to the topics identified. TAPPS members outside of the police service also make presentations within their areas of expertise and TAPPS encourages this approach.
